FAQ
Q: What is grassroots?

A: A grassroots effort is a campaign that allows individual members to weigh in on important legislative and regulatory issues. Rather than having just a few people working on behalf of dermatology, a grassroots program gives us an entire network of people who can make an impact. Each individual member can make a difference.

Q: I would like help with advocacy efforts in my state. Who do I contact?

A:
If you need help with a specific legislative or regulatory issue in your state, contact Kathryn Guccione Chandra at kchandra@aad.org or (202) 712-2615.

Q: I am not interested in politics. Why should I get involved?

A:
The legislative and regulatory process affects multiple areas of your practice including which procedures you are allowed to do in your office, who can operate a laser in your state, and your choice of lab consult. If you don't get involved while these issues are being decided then policies can be developed that are not in the best interests of you and your patients. You are the expert on dermatology, your practice and your patients so it is important for you to weigh in.

Q: I know my legislator personally; is there anything I can do?

A:
Yes! Sign up to become a Key Contact. Simply click on Become a Key Contact on the menu to sign up. Then we can let you know when we have important information for you to pass along to your legislator.
